welcome speech for church revival: Anatomy of a Revived Church Thom S. Rainer, 2022-08-02 There is hope. God can save your church. In this book, Thom Rainer reveals seven findings of revived churches. Through new research, he figuratively dissects hundreds of churches that were on the path toward death. But they turned around. They revitalized. They did so in the face of facts and naysayers who told them it could not be done. Today, three out of four churches are declining in our nation, and twenty percent of churches are close to death. What are the secrets of the churches who avoided this fate and experienced revival? In Anatomy of a Revived Church, Thom will show you how these churches experienced renewal. He will cover everything from “expanding the scorecard” to “dealing with toxins” to “choosing meaningful membership.” When you finish reading this book, you will have the tools to strengthen, restore, and energize your church. You can choose life for your church.
welcome speech for church revival: Miracles of the Burlington Revival C. T. Townsend, Geoff Wasserman, Jordana Megonigal, 2018-05 In most churches, the front pews serve as a meeting place at the very heart of the church-where those who come forward can talk with others, can be prayed over, and can be led to Christ. At the Burlington Revival, we used wooden benches instead. It was on those rustic wooden structures that men and women would kneel, in tears, broken before God. People of all ages gave their lives to the Lord, prodigal children returned home, and the hopeless found new hope. On those benches are inscriptions of many who prayed for revival and saw God's promises fulfilled. The wooden benches of Burlington. Marked. Scarred. Inscribed. They represent the hope of His calling, the miracle of answered prayers, the fire of a soul touched by God, and serve as reminders of what God has done¿and can do again.

welcome speech for church revival: Gospel Discipleship Congregation Guide Michelle J. Morris, 2020-03-31 Each congregation has a unique mission field. Several tools for developing disciples and for engaging in discipleship are available to churches; however, the resources assume that the churches using them are similar to the church that created them. With Gospel Discipleship, individuals and churches learn how to engage in self-reflection, which then defines a path that fits their context. The discipleship path for each individual disciple is assessed and determined through the Gospel Discipleship Participant Guide while this Gospel Discipleship Congregation Guide guides the implemntation of the program and assesses the discipleship path for the congregation as a whole. Therefore, the program leader(s) needs the congregation guide while individual particpants need their own participant guide. With Gospel Discipleship, churches can identify a pathway for discipleship applied from one of the four Gospel storytellers: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Each had a distinct approach to discipleship which can be applied to a given church's identity, vision, and mission. As disciples are encouraged by the church to step beyond the door and engage the needs of people, they can be sent forth confidently with an awareness of personal, unique gifts, and insights into the actual mission field where they participate with God in changing the world.

The message is fearless and often radical as he expounds on the disparity between the New Testament church and the church today. Why Revival Tarries contains the heart of his message. A.W. Tozer called Ravenhill a man sent from God who appeared at [a] critical moment in history, just as the Old Testament prophets did. Included are questions for group and individual study.

welcome speech for church revival: The Habit of Being in the Spirit Isaiah Macwealth, And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. Revelations 4:2 The life a believer ought to be a supernatural one. We have been born into a heavenly or spiritual realm and thus should be able to interact with that realm and access the fullness of its powers and glory. In other words, the believer should not be disadvantaged in any way as we have the ability to fully function in and from the realm of the spirit where everything that manifest in the physical realm is determined. . Also, just like the fictional ‘superman” a believer should be able to by-pass time and space and be transported into different parts of the world and into different realms by the Spirit. The scriptures clearly show us this. But sadly, this is not the reality as some believers are limited and manipulated by Satan and his cohorts where they are supposed to reign. This is largely because they do not understand the realms of the spirit-how to function in it and the limitless possibilities when one lives or functions from that realm, this Satan and his demons understand. Thus Satan will do anything to stop the believer from attaining full spiritual faculty functionality. I want you to know that there are limitless possibilities to a believer who understands the realm of the spirit. However, full functionality in the spirit requires the believer to develop the habit of being in the spirit. In other words, the believer has to learn how to enter, stay or spend more time in the spirit. This is what the Holy Spirit will have me reveal to you in this book. I will share with you the necessity of being in the spirit, the different levels and dimensions of being in the spirit and the effects of being in the spirit. I will also share with you some amazing experiences I have had in the realms of the spirit. Just like John in the scripture shared above, I have been transported in the spirit countless times to see, hear, interact and experience life in that realm, and I am so excited to be able to share these experiences with you in this book. One thing is for sure - this revelation will change your life if you will give yourself to reading and deeply meditating on it by the Spirit.

welcome speech for church revival: One Nation Under God Kevin M. Kruse, 2015-04-14 The provocative and authoritative history of the origins of Christian America in the New Deal era We're often told that the United States is, was, and always has been a Christian nation. But in One Nation Under God, historian Kevin M. Kruse reveals that the belief that America is fundamentally and formally Christian originated in the 1930s. To fight the slavery of FDR's New Deal, businessmen enlisted religious activists in a campaign for freedom under God that culminated in the election of their ally Dwight Eisenhower in 1952. The new president revolutionized the role of religion in American politics. He inaugurated new traditions like the National Prayer Breakfast, as Congress added the phrase under God to the Pledge of Allegiance and made In God We Trust the country's first official motto. Church membership soon soared to an all-time high of 69 percent. Americans across the religious and political spectrum agreed that their country was one nation under God. Provocative and authoritative, One Nation Under God reveals how an unholy alliance of money, religion, and politics created a false origin story that continues to define and divide American politics to this day.

welcome speech for church revival: Poverty, Riches and Wealth Kris Vallotton, 2018-04-03 Overcome the Never-Enough Mentality to Walk in True Abundance Prosperity. It's one of the most dividing words in the Church. Some pastors use it to tell their congregations that God will make them all rich, rich, rich! Others spurn the word and insist that true Christlikeness is found in forsaking all worldly riches and possessions. The truth is, neither of these extremes is fully right or fully wrong. In his latest book, Kris Vallotton mines the Scriptures in an eye-opening study of what the Bible really says about money, poverty, riches and wealth. In it you'll find keys to · overcome the never-enough mentality to experience true abundance · break free from a poverty mindset that reaps lack in your life · demystify biblical teaching on money so you can discover peace in your finances · learn the difference between riches and wealth Kingdom prosperity begins from the inside out. When you learn to cultivate a mindset of abundance, no matter your circumstances, you will begin to experience the wealth of heaven in every area of your life.

welcome speech for church revival: Captive in Iran Maryam Rostampour, Marziyeh Amirizadeh, 2013-04-02 Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh knew they were putting their lives on the line. Islamic laws in Iran forbade them from sharing their Christian beliefs, but in three years, they’d covertly put New Testaments into the hands of twenty thousand of their countrymen and started two secret house churches. In 2009, they were finally arrested and held in the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran, a place where inmates are routinely tortured and executions are commonplace. In the face of ruthless interrogations, persecution, and a death sentence, Maryam and Marziyeh chose to take the radical—and dangerous—step of sharing their faith inside the very walls of the government stronghold that was meant to silence them. In Captive in Iran, two courageous Iranian women recount how God used their 259 days in Evin Prison to shine His light into one of the world’s darkest places, giving hope to those who had lost everything and showing love to those in despair.
welcome speech for church revival: Dear White Peacemakers Osheta Moore, 2021-05-18 Dear White Peacemakers is a breakup letter to division, a love letter to God’s beloved community, and an eviction notice to the violent powers that have sustained racism for centuries. Race is one of the hardest topics to discuss in America. Many white Christians avoid talking about it altogether. But a commitment to peacemaking requires white people to step out of their comfort and privilege and into the work of anti-racism. Dear White Peacemakers is an invitation to white Christians to come to the table and join this hard work and holy calling. Rooted in the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus, this book is a challenging call to transform white shame, fragility, saviorism, and privilege, in order to work together to build the Beloved Community as anti-racism peacemakers. Written in the wake of George Floyd’s death, Dear White Peacemakers draws on the Sermon on the Mount, Spirituals, and personal stories from author Osheta Moore’s work as a pastor in St. Paul, Minnesota. Enter into this story of shalom and join in the urgent work of anti-racism peacemaking.

welcome speech for church revival: The Churches and the Third Reich Klaus Scholder, 2018-05-04 This second volume of The Churches and the Third Reich, the last which the author lived to write, covers the year 1934. This year, which saw the birth of the Confessing Church and the great Synods of Barmen and Dahlem, was the year of disillusionment, in which all the hopes of 1933 were shattered one by one. The gripping narrative of the first volume is continued as in addition to the rise of a legitimate church opposition we see how the German Christians overreached themselves by seeking, without Hitler’s approval and against the law, to set up a Reich Church fully coordinated with the state. Meanwhile, the Roman Catholic Church was running into increasing difficulties as it tried to cope with the problems left unresolved on the conclusion of the Concordat. Like the first, this volume has many illustrations.

welcome speech for church revival: Church Reset Jack Wilkie, 2020-04-30 In Church Reset: God's Design for So Much More, Jack Wilkie traces the problem back to its roots to show how we've deviated from God's plan and how we can get back on track. How can we stop operating as an organization and start living like a family? How do we stop creating church customers and start making dedicated disciples? How do we abandon man-made strategies and rediscover the power of God's design? Church Reset casts an exciting vision for what Christ's church can be by pointing back to what it was meant to be from the very start.

welcome speech for church revival: The Out-Of-Church Christians Andrew Strom, 2008-06 It all began with a Radio show and an email - when Andrew Strom was invited onto a Christian radio station to discuss the growing phenomenon of Out-of-church Christians - the fact that seemingly tens of thousands of dedicated believers are leaving the churches. But why? That same week he published an article on the subject on his international Email List. The result was an absolute deluge of responses from all over the world - literally thousands. Christian Pollster George Barna has stated that the number of unchurched adults in America is growing by a staggering ONE MILLION people per year. Barna's research has also found that there are more than 13 million 'Born Again' believers in America who do not attend church. Why is this trend growing? Why are thousands upon thousands of devoted Christians leaving the churches? Is it a 'movement'? And why is it occurring in so many different parts of the world? This is a book that every Christian leader should read. Hear from dozens of believers who have left - and why. Are there solutions to this crisis? A book for everyone concerned about the future of Western Christianity - and where it is heading today.
welcome speech for church revival: Innovation in the Orthodox Christian Tradition? Trine Stauning Willert, Lina Molokotos-Liederman, 2016-05-23 The relationship between tradition and innovation in Orthodox Christianity has often been problematic, filled with tensions and contradictions starting from the Byzantine era and running through the 19th and 20th centuries. For a long period of time scholars have typically assumed Greek Orthodoxy to be a static religious tradition with little room for renewal or change. Although this public perception continues, the immutability of the Greek Orthodox tradition has been questioned by several scholars over the past few years. This book continues this line of reasoning, but brings it into the centre of contemporary discussion. Presenting case studies from different periods of history up to the present day, the authors trace different aspects in the development of innovation and renewal in Orthodox Christianity in the Greek-speaking world and among the Diaspora.
welcome speech for church revival: Falling Up Thomas Holliday, 2013-01-25 Actors know about falling up: a split-second ignition from the wings, propelling entrance as a new character, an unwilled ascent to a different mode of being, an in-body experience that overlays preparation, opportunity, choice, or chance. Falling Up, the first and only full-length Floyd study, is a metaphor for humanity’s uncanny ability to rise from seeming disaster into rebirth. Floyd’s consistent succession of soars, stumbles, slides, or wrenches sings of triumph over odds. A modern Renaissance man, Floyd is our greatest living opera composer and librettist, a trained concert pianist, a master stage director, and a teacher. In Falling Up, Holliday offers an intimate account of the life that shaped the words and music. Combining insights from hundreds of interviews with Floyd, his family, and many of the last half-century’s greatest singers, conductors, and opera administrators, Falling Up traces Floyd’s Southern roots and the struggles and sacrifices that accompanied his rise to operatic stardom. With more than forty photographs, the detailed evolution of Floyd’s fourteen operas, and in-depth analysis of his nonoperatic works, Falling Up is essential reading for opera fans and professionals alike, a book that moves, informs, and entertains.
