robbins and judge organizational behavior: Positive Organizational Behavior Debra Nelson, 2007-05-14 Positive Organizational Behavior is emerging as a truly contemporary movement within the classic discipline of organizational behavior. The best work of leading scholars is gathered together in one edited collection. Chapters present the states, traits, and processes that compromise this exciting new science. In addition to mapping the field, this collection goes one step further and invites noted experts to identify the methodological challenges facing scholars of positive organizational behavior. Positive Organizational Behavior constitutes the study of positive human strengths and competencies, how it can be facilitated, assessed and managed to improve performance in the workplace . Its roots are firmly within positive psychology but transplanted to the world of work and organizations. |
robbins and judge organizational behavior: Handbook of Principles of Organizational Behavior Edwin Locke, 2011-07-15 There is a strong movement today in management to encourage management practices based on research evidence. In the first volume of this handbook, I asked experts in 39 areas of management to identify a central principle that summarized and integrated the core findings from their specialty area and then to explain this principle and give real business examples of the principle in action. I asked them to write in non-technical terms, e.g., without a lot of statistics, and almost all did so. The previous handbook proved to be quite popular, so I was asked to edit a second edition. This new edition has been expanded to 33 topics, and there are some new authors for the previously included topics. The new edition also includes: updated case examples, updated references and practical exercises at the end of each chapter. It also includes a preface on evidence-based management. The principles for the first edition were intended to be relatively timeless, so it is no surprise that most of the principles are the same (though some chapter titles include more than one principle). This book could serve as a textbook in advanced undergraduate and in MBA courses. It could also be of use to practicing managers and not just those in Human Resource departments. Every practicing manager may not want to read the whole book, but I am willing to guarantee that every one will find at least one or more chapters that will be practically useful. In this time of economic crisis, the need for effective management practices is more acute than ever. |

robbins and judge organizational behavior: Organizational Behavior Robert Kreitner, Angelo Kinicki, 2007 Organizational Behavior, Seventh Edition continues in its tradition of being up-to-date, relevant and user-driven. Kreitner and Kinicki’s approach to organizational behavior is based on the authors’ belief that reading a comprehensive textbook is hard work, but that the process should be interesting (and sometimes fun). Thus, they consistently attempt to find a way to make complex ideas understandable through explanations, contemporary examples, and/or learning exercises. With every edition, the authors make every effort to respond to user feedback and ensure the text covers the very latest OB research and practices. The seventh edition of Organizational Behavior again uses the familiar wolf image on its cover. This remains a central theme because Kreitner and Kinicki see wolves as an instructive and inspiring metaphor for modern Organizational Behavior. Wolves are dedicated team players, great communicators, and adaptable. These are key success attributes in today’s workplace. Organizational Behavior uses these fundamentals to explore and explain the forces behind conventional corporate behavior and organizational theory. |
