home health aide training books: Home Health Aide Training Manual and Handbook Emmanuel C. Anene, 2009-03 It is my hope that this text, when properly used will be of great benefit to the individual aide or aide intraining in mastering the required skills that would make the individual a good home health aide. The book has been specially tailored as a teaching tool for home health aides. The book has two sections, the tutorial section one and the practical hands on section two. The second section is a good aide or good training tool for practical demonstartion purposes. For the purpose of understanding only, a home health aide does not have to be a Certified Nurses Aide. As a result this book can be used to train and prepare an individual to function in the capacity of a home health aide. The agency must prepare a set of standardized tests for the aides to ensure that the individual have fully internalized the reaching and traning that they have been put through. This book further addresses the rule and regulation (federal and State) that the home health aide must be familiar with. This book is an excellent tool for the home health aide. I strongly encourage all individual who practice and plans to practice as an aide in the home health field to read this book.

home health aide training books: The Caring Class Richard Schweid, 2021-03-15 The number of elderly and disabled Americans in need of home health care is increasing annually, even as the pool of people—almost always women—willing to do this job gets smaller and smaller. The Caring Class takes readers inside the reality of home health care by following the lives of women training and working as home health aides in the South Bronx. Richard Schweid examines home health care in detail, focusing on the women who tend to our elderly and disabled loved ones and how we fail to value their work. They are paid minimum wage so that we might be absent, getting on with our own lives. The book calls for a rethinking of home health care and explains why changes are urgent: the current system offers neither a good way to live nor a good way to die. By improving the job of home health aide, Schweid shows, we can reduce income inequality and create a pool of qualified, competent home health care providers who would contribute to the well-being of us all. The Caring Class also serves as a guide into the world of our home health care system. Nearly 50 million US families look after an elderly or disabled loved one. This book explains the issues and choices they face. Schweid explores the narratives, histories, and people behind home health care in the United States, examining how we might improve the lives of both those who receive care and those who provide it.

Each in-service packet takes approximately one hour to complete and fully meets the Medicare in-service training requirements. As aides need training, you can make as many copies as you want - there's no restriction when used with aides assigned from your office location. Remember that Home Health Aides must have 12 hours of in-service training every year. LESSON OBJECTIVES After completion of this program, the home health aide will be able to: * Describe two major functions of the kidneys * Name the two leading causes of kidney failure * Identify two observations home health aides should report, and * List two treatment options for patients with end-stage renal disease. LESSON OVERVIEW About 7.4 million adults in the United States have physiological evidence of kidney disease. Nearly 100,000 of them are diagnosed with renal failure each year. Diabetes mellitus is the most common cause of renal failure, with more than 40% of new cases attributable to diabetes. Hypertension causes more than 15,000 new cases of kidney failure each year, making it the second most common cause. Both diabetes and hypertension are common among homecare patients so it is not surprising that home health aides are often assigned to patients with renal failure. The purpose of this in-service is to educate home health aides about renal disease and to provide information about caring for affected patients.
